I have read your article, and I respect your opinion. But, I strongly disagree with you for many reasons. "Satan" does not control abortion. You mentioned that your wife had an abortion, surely you must realize that no woman wants to have an abortion-it is a long, thought out, grief-stricken process, and "satan" does not control the outcome. I am a devout Christian, but I strongly disagree with the concept of a "satan". But even if I didn't, can't you see that a choice to have an abortion isn't done with evil intentions? Any woman who gets an abortion doesn't do it because "satan" told her to, or because she wants to. Like you mentioned before, a case of rape or incest where a child is produced would be horrible to have a woman go through and birth the child. They would likely be born with defects. Children born with defects require more love and attention than normal children. Can you imagine giving double the love to a child that every time you look him/her in the face, you see half of the man who raped you, or the uncle who forced himself inside of you? I think that no man should decide what woman should be able to do with the unborn children that God him/herself has blessed her with. If she decides to give birth to the child, then it is a truly glorious occasion and should be celebrated by all for a new life. But if she decides to abort, then she always has very thorough reasons for doing so, and I think that men should respect that instead of using religion as a way to tell them what they should or shouldn't do. As I said earlier, Sir, I respect your beliefs, but I wanted to voice my opinion as well. God bless you.
P.S.-I'm a man, not a woman(just for reference when you read this article).
My response is in Green:
Thanks for writing me. I am often accused of being too blunt with my answers, so I will warn you right up front I will probably be too blunt this time too. I also want you to know that I am not going to try to attack you although some of my statements could probably be construed that way. I want to address your points but in doing so I am going to also address the base from which you come. Well here goes.
You mentioned that surely I realize no women wants an abortion. No I don't realize that... I believe that 99.9% of abortions are because the woman really does want an abortion. Now let me step back and say if you are saying that the woman wished she had not gotten pregnant so she would not have to have an abortion, then I would agree with you. If however, as I think you are saying you think most abortions are done on women who wished they had another choice, I think you are wrong. There are other choices; adoption for one, and living with a bad choice in the past for another.
Abortion is sin. Sin is always an offense against God. Abortion is a sin even if the reason is rape or incest. I know that is very unpopular teaching, but that is what I believe God's law says. I will admit that it would be hard to look at a child that came out of one of those relationships day after day, but that is where adoption comes in. It is not the child's fault. Just because we are uncomfortable with something does not make it okay to violate God's law.
At this point I want to address something else you said. You said that you are a Christian, yet you said you don't believe in a satan. And when speaking about God you said: "him/herself". That makes me believe that although you claim to be a Christian you are not really. See the reason I say that is because what we believe about the Bible and about God determines if we are truly Christians or not. To be a Christian you need to have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, but to do so you must have faith in the fact that He is who He said He is. He said He was God, and He said many more things which are in the Bible. He even spoke about a being He called Satan. So if you don't believe what Jesus said, then it is doubtful that you have ever accepted Him as your Savior.
I mention this not to attack you but to let you know that this is the most important thing you will ever do. We are all born into sin and fall under a death sentence from God. There is nothing we can do about it but in His love for us God provided a way, by sending His Son to die for us. Jesus came to earth as a human and lived a sinless life and died for our sins. God the Father then raised Him on the third day and He is now in heave with God the Father and will forgive your sins if you ask Him.
You seemed to think that I blamed Satan for women getting abortions, but I don't. I believe it is the woman who chooses to have the abortion and it is the woman who will have to answer to God for it.
If you read my wife's testimony, then you should realize what she was saying was that all you hear is that Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics are counseling women, but that is not true. All they do is counsel towards abortion, then once the woman has had the abortion she is on her own. They purposely keep information from the woman that might make her think twice. Why would that be? Could it be, because they don't care about her as much as they do about the abortion taking place?
I agree that abortion is a very personal decision, but because it is, it is even more important that the woman has all the facts. Abortion is not the cure all that many in the pro-abortion movement claim it is. Their rhetoric is full of lies and misconceptions (excuse the pun). Take partial birth abortion for instance. I was in the medical field but even if I had not been, the idea that you have to deliver a baby completely (all but the head to make it legal) and then kill it to save the mother's health is idiotic. The largest portion of most babies is the shoulders and you have already allowed them to exit the womb. What possible difference to the woman's health could there be from not allowing the head to also come out of the womb, until the baby is dead? I will tell you none physically, the only possible explanation is that it would be done for the woman's mental health. What a crock!!
Satan may not be responsible for abortions but he sure is involved and happy about them. We live in a sinful world which is getting worse all the time. We kill our unborn babies and before long we will probably kill our old folks too. That will start as being legal mercy killings, but it will soon turn into out and out killing of what people consider worthless spent human beings.
Here is the bottom line. Women want legalized abortion so that if they make a mistake and get pregnant they won't have to live with that mistake for the rest of their lives. Many men want legalized abortion for the same reason, after all it takes two to make a pregnancy. The other truth is that God calls abortion sin and anyone who is involved in one will someday answer to God for it, there is one exception and that is the person who is forgiven because God says: (1 John 1:9 NIV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Don't be fooled by the idea that people are inherently good, they are not, they are inherently evil and follow their evil desires. That is why we are under judgment by God who is Holy.
I hope I have not upset you, but I thought it was important to explain my stand, but also to give you the truth about salvation.
