I just think it's funny how you religious people say God loves everyone, and then you go "but if you don't acknowledge him here's what awaits": burning in the eternal fires of hell. I find it sad that religion has always been, is and always will be so desperate to recruit new followers that they must bully them into believing a made up story.
"his perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
demands devotion atrocities done in his name
your god is dead and no one cares
drowning in his own hypocrisy
and if there is a hell i will see you there"
- trent reznor, the downward spiral
My response is in Green:
I am sorry that you view me as desperate to recruit new followers. I don't view it that way. All I try to do is give you the truth, what you do with it is up to you. If you see a child playing in a busy road and you tell him to get out of the road or he will be killed, does that make you hateful? Or does it show compassion on your part?
I usually put it like this. Say I am at a fork in the road. One way is a super highway which has lots of speeding cars on it, the other is a very narrow bumpy road. The problem is that the super highway has a blind curve and just beyond the blind curve is a bridge but the bridge is out. The cars are going too fast to stop once around the blind curve, so they are going off the cliff to certain death. I know this but the people in the speeding cars don't.
I feel that it is my moral responsibility to stand at the fork and try to warn people about the blind curve and the bridge being out. I try to tell them to take the slower, narrow, bumpy road because it will get them where they want to go safely. The problem is that most people don't believe me. Many just ignore me and speed along to their deaths. Some laugh at me as they continue on at break neck speed. A few stop listen and turn off onto the narrow road. Others stop get out and try to beat or kill me just for telling them something they don't want to hear.
My question is: should I continue to try to warn people even though I know they will most likely get mad at me and not listen? Or should I just get into my car and happily drive away down the narrow road and not care about the millions dying on the super highway?
