This is what the LORD says: "Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the LORD.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
God's Word was given to us so that we could know Him. The Bible is not a secret document that only a few people are allowed to read, it is given to all mankind so that we can get to know our Creator. Yet many people never bother to open God's Word and really read it. They will pick up a magazine and read about their favorite movie star or sports hero, but they won't take the time to get to know the One Who holds eternity in His hand.
People will say a lot about God, they will say they know and understand Him, but yet they prove by the things they say that they don't know Him. Lots of people say that they don't want to worship a God that is this or that but never bother picking up His Word and finding out Who He really is.
If you don't ever pick up God's Word and read it for yourself how do you know what is right and what is wrong? Here is a good example that came to me via e-mail in the last couple of days.
Here is an invitation for you to see the FINAL ACT that God is engaging on behalf of ALL HUMANITY. This is the FEAST OF LOVE and a home-coming welcome for ALL "prodigal sons". He will do this for ALL "prodigals" on earth now! Tell Lucifer all slave chains shall be broken and God will take from him what he seems to have!
They go on and say: DO NOT EXPECT THAT ANY PREACHER WILL AGREE WITH THIS OR APPROVE OF IT ! These scriptures cannot be broken! God is not "competing" with "human doctrines" and man-made "plans of salvation" taught by the churches. He is applying unconditional GRACE and giving ALL MEN the "free gift of righteousness", doing His own thing over and above the arguments of the preachers!
The scripture they claim will not be broken are the verses about the prodigal son. But how many people really know the story Jesus told about the prodigal son? On the surface it might look like they are right, God will welcome everyone with open arms. After all God does love us all. The problem is that they over look a few things. For example, the prodigal son was only welcomed home when he returned. When the son was living and eating with the pigs the father did not come and pull him out of the mud, but he was waiting when the son came walking down the road coming home. If we are the sons and God is the father than Christ is the road we are walking on to get to God the Father.
These people are trying to say that God is going to save everyone, no matter whether they believe in Christ or accept Him as their Savior. Now they are very creative about what they believe. They believe a lot of things, which contradict the Bible. They go out of their way to tell people how much God loves everyone. That is true, but they don't want to face the fact that God is also just and demands death as payment for sin. Yes Christ did die for all human's sins, but we must believe in Him and ask Him to forgive us before we receive that forgiveness. They believe that only Satan and his demons will inhabit hell for eternity. They take all kinds of scripture out of context on their web site to "prove" that this is what is going to happen.
How do they reconcile their views with the scripture that refutes their views? That is easy, they claim that the Bible is not all inspired by God, some of it was just Paul's and other's thoughts. That makes it a lot easier, just get rid of what you don't like and keep what you do like.
If a person knows the Bible then he knows God. Let's look a just a few of the scriptures that refute what they people are saying: Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6) That does not leave much room for interpretation. There will be weeping there, and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out. (Luke 13:28) This verse sure says there will people who do not make it to heaven. Then he will say to those on his left, "Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." (Matthew 25:41) Again this leaves no doubt that some people will not make it.
Could these people just be mistaken but have good intentions? I don't believe so. I believe they are serving their father - Satan, the father of lies. Again many people who don't know God or His Word might disagree with me. Many people think that Satan can not tell the any truth or that he will never quote the Bible since it is God's word. WRONG! In fact Satan does his best work when he uses just enough truth to make his lies seem true. The Bible even tells us what Satan will do: Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. (2 Corinthians 11:14)
John warned about this type of thing: Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. (1 John 4:1-3)
This is the kind of plan that Satan loves. If he can convince people that there is no need to ask for forgiveness because all men are already saved, what could be better? This would work for him in two ways. One, Christians would not even bother spreading the gospel, there would be no reason to. Second, anyone who believed this and then heard the real gospel would ignore it, they are already saved, why would they need a Savior?
Don't think that this is the first or the last lie that Satan is using to fool people. If you don't read your Bible and get to really know God, then how would you know if your pastor started preaching something from the pulpit in your church that was in direct conflict with God's Word? Don't say that could never happen, because you trust your pastor, he is human.
Take a look at what Paul had to say: I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel - which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! (Galatians 1:6-8)
So are you scared now about being fooled? If so good, that should make you more willing to really get to know God, by reading His Word.
