I would rather die then go to prison.

Hello Ralph,

I have read your articles and found that you may have your points. But let me tell you my stories and see whether u said the same or not.

I'm a guy age 29+, living in asia and currently not working. The reason that I'm not working is that I made a biggest mistake in my life. I did something wrong and now I regret for the rest of my life. It landed me with the law in my country. Now I'm half way hang in the middle of the air. If I lose the case, I'll be in prison but I don't want to go to prison. I prefer die than going in. That's why I'm thinking of suicide. I feel scare and scare everytime when the case came up. I'm scare I will lose it and straight to prison. Prison is a horible places. I shouldn't belong to that place.

Sometime I told myself, don't think about it and continue with life but it won't help. And now I have two more chances to win the case. If I ever lost this two chances then I'll be straight going in. I'm keep thinking if at the end I lose, I will commit suicide. I can't take that presure anymore. It's been more than 6 year already. I think die is the only way that can release my presure or my fear. I feel I don't have a direction of life now. Don't know what to do.

Bye the way, I'm not a christian. I'm a buddisht.

Hope to hear your comment

My response is in Green:

I can't address your other problems until I address this one. I know that you said you are a Buddhist, and I respect your right to choose to follow that religion, however, I would be wrong if I did not tell you that I believe your only hope is through Jesus Christ. He said it Himself: John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

We have all made mistakes in the past, we have all done wrong things. That is all called sin and everyone of us has done it. Sin is an offense against God and He demands our death for our sins, but He also loves us and wants to be merciful to us. He did what we would have never thought to do, He sent His Son, Jesus to live as a human and to die for our sins. Then He raised Him up to live again so that we can be forgiven if we will just believe and ask Him to forgive us.

Now that won't make your problems go away, but it will mean that God will walk with you and help you. This is what you need to remember, suicide won't make your problems go away either. If you kill yourself this is some of what you can expect. You will be in utter darkness and suffering forever. You will be much worse off than you would be in prison.

I will not disagree with you that prison is a horrible place, but just remember you will get out sometime. As long as you are alive there is hope, but in hell there is not hope. No hope of every getting out or of it getting any better.

I understand what you mean about not thinking you can take the pressure, but that is exactly what God offers us; peace and release from the pressure. I won't tell you that if you get right with God you won't go to prison, I don't know, but I do know that He can help you even with that. He can give you a peace and a calm feeling no matter what happens.

So to answer you first question, yes I still say the same thing. God loves you and would like you to know Him and love Him. He is a personal God, a real being, someone who cares and to whom you can talk. I hope you will give Him a chance.
