Whoever, is going to read this, I do not know but, I have thought very seriously about a way out of this life, and I do not know where to start. And if someone can read this and give me some kind of simple solution to the problems in my life that have led me to believe that suicide is my only real answer, then kindly help me.
My response is in Green:
I will try to help you. There are a couple of important questions for you to ask yourself. First what do you think happens after a person dies? Do you think that the person just ceases to exist or that their soul lives on? This is important because you don't want to do something without thinking it through. Next what do you think the benefit to you will be if you are dead? This goes back to the first question.
If you think you will just cease to exist are you ready for that? Is your life so bad that not existing at all would be better? Think about it, if you do cease to exist, it won't be like getting relief for what troubles you now, you don't know, you won't be, you won't - well you get the point.
Now if your soul lives on, they it is important to think about what that means. Where does the soul go and what happens to it? Is there a nirvana out there where every soul goes and everything is wonderful, or is it just blackness and empty, or is it eternal torment?
I can give you the answers and I will, but it is important for you to really think this out for yourself too. Your soul will live on. In fact it will live on forever. It will live in one of two places, with God or separated from Him in eternal punishment.
There is only one way to get to heaven and live with God eternally, but there are thousands of ways to end up in hell and one of them is to commit suicide. Hell is called the second death. It is called that because this body that we all have will one day die, but the soul will live on. If the person's soul goes to hell it will die eternally or in other words suffer forever. That is why it is called the second death, but it is a death which is never over.
Here is the whole story. There is a God, and He created everything that you see and even that which you can't see. He is holy, meaning that He has never sinned or done anything wrong. He can't stand sin. Sin is anything which does not live up to His standards which is perfect. So it is not surprising that the Bible says we have all sinned: (Romans 3:23 NIV) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... The Bible also tells us what the punishment is for sin: (Ezekiel 18:4 NIV) For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. I put in the bold so that you could see our problem. Now the death the Bible is talking about is the second death.
This all leaves us with a gigantic problem; we have all sinned and anyone who sins will die. Sounds pretty hopeless doesn't it? Well it would be except for one thing. See God loves us. His holy nature which is what demands death to those who sin, keeps Him from just forgiving us and forgetting about it. His holy nature demands that there be punishment for our sins, but the punishment is our soul's death. If God were human, that would probably be the end of the matter, we would die and that's it. Praise the Lord, God is not human and He did something that none of us would have done or would have even thought about doing. (John 3:16 NIV) "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." You might be asking what does it mean that He gave His only Son? Well lets look: (Romans 5:8 NIV) But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. He sent His Son, Jesus to die in our place. None of us can die for someone else because we all have our own sins to die for, but Jesus, because He was and is God, was also holy and had never sinned, so He could die for us.
It is not like God just killed His Son and that was the end of it. God cannot die, so something else had to happen. God sent Jesus to earth as a human, born of a virgin human mother. His Father was God, He did not have a human father. He lived as a human for about 33 years and never sinned, so He was able to die for us because He remained sinless. God the Father poured out all of His wrath onto Jesus. What that means is that God punished Jesus for all the wrong things that you have done and I have done even though Jesus had done nothing wrong.
God the Father raised Jesus from the dead on the third day and He is now in heaven. That brings us to the point of how we are forgiven. If we believe that God loved us and sent Jesus to die for our sins and we ask Him to forgive us we will be saved. That is how a soul ends up in heaven with God.
You might be saying, okay that is all nice but what does it have to do with the problems that are causing me to want to die? Well your problems are all caused by sin, either your own or someone else's or by the fact that there is so much sin in the world. Now if you are forgiven for your sins, then a huge weight is taken off your shoulders. Plus God will help you deal with the other problems in your life at that point. (Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV) The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." God will never leave you either.
Let me ask you something. If you accept Christ Jesus as your Savior then what in the world would you have to fear? The worst thing that can happen is that you die, and if you die and you have accepted Jesus as your Savior then you go to be with Him in heaven. See how God can put your problems into perspective?
No matter how bad your life is now, God will help you with it. No matter how bad your life is now, it is nothing compared to what eternal punishment would be. Don't let the devil tell you that death will bring rest or an escape from your pain, if you die without Jesus in your heart you will long to be back on this earth so you could have one more chance, but it won't happen.
The devil hates you because God loves you. Satan would like nothing better than for you to kill yourself, because then you will be eternally separated from God with no hope of ever being forgiven. He is a liar and he will tell you anything you want to hear. If you want death to be the escape from pain, he will tell you it is. If you want death to be rest and peace, he will tell you it is. Don't let him kill your soul. Get a Bible and start reading in the New Testament and see for yourself. This is more important then just life and death it is eternal life and eternal death. Don't make a mistake!!
